Joan Coplan is a senior consultant at Stratton-Carpenter & Associates, where she oversees local and regional political consulting, public affairs strategies for local and national commercial clients, corporate government relations, and special events planning. Joan has more than twenty years of experience in communications and political campaigns, including roles on four different presidential campaigns. In various capacities, she has served senators, congressmen, governors, and others, including Ken Salazar, Tom Strickland, Roy Romer, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Michael Dukakis, and Gary Hart. A double graduate of the University of Denver, Joan was appointed by President Clinton to serve as the Regional Advocate at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). There, she helped connect small businesses, state and local governments, and trade associations in a six-state region that included Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Utah. She also served as the acting Regional Administrator and oversaw the delivery of SBA services and developed a strategic media strategy to give small businesses a greater voice in Washington and in the states. Joan lives in Englewood, Colorado. |
